ABOUT US

OUR VISION

Since 2004, the Sevenoaks School Foundation has supported the development of Sevenoaks School, and the advancement of its mission to be a pioneer of modern education and a force in creating a better society.

The Foundation has funded more than £75m in the school’s award-winning spaces and in access to education for young people. We have created inspiring new buildings, and increased financial assistance for students with academic talent and ambition but without the means or opportunity to develop them.

Sevenoaks School has ambitious plans for the next decade as it reaches its 600th anniversary in 2032; priorities include greater diversity, sustainability and academic excellence.

INCLUSIVE AND DIVERSE SE COMMUNITY

We are committed to ensuring that equity, diversity and inclusion are at the heart of our culture and community.

Our ambition is to significantly increase the number of students receiving financial assistance from the 69 students currently in receipt to one in three students.

In addition, it is our intention to build a significant endowment fund that will ensure this financial assistance can continue in perpetuity.

RESPONSIBLE AND SUSTAINABLE CAMPUS

Environmental damage and associated climate change are among the biggest challenges of our time.

The school has occupied its present site for most of its 600-year history. It is located on a green, 100-acre campus which provides an inspirational environment for study and work, but requires constant investment to meet the changing needs of the school community. We commit to developing a sustainable plan for continually renewing our wonderful heritage campus.

We also have a responsibility to respond to and nurture the passion many young people have for environmental sustainability. We will continue to empower students to be sustainability leaders in their future work and lives.

PIONEERING EDUCATION

The spirit of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), with its breadth, balance, coherence and interdisciplinary approach, is at the heart of Sevenoaks School’s education.

Sevenoaks was pioneering as the first HMC school to adopt the IBDP in 1978, and today the unique Sevenoaks core of critical thinking runs throughout students’ academic experience, encouraging open-minded exploration, reflection and delight in learning.

We are committed to remaining pioneering in our education by continuing to innovate and develop imaginative and future-focused provision.

STUDENT FLOURISHING

We want to understand how to best help students develop as happy and healthy people, with a greater awareness of themselves and others.

We are collaborating with the evidence-based Human Flourishing Program at Harvard, and our students, to understand which practices could be implemented more frequently and consistently to support them to flourish at school and beyond.
